the New James Bond?

broken image

Ever since 2005 there were rumors about Croatian actor Goran Visnjic becoming the new secret service agent James Bond, and lately this story has again taken the spotlight, although many people are aware that the chances of casting a new James Bond actor, who isn’t from the UK or Australia, are very small. Even Visnjic didn’t make any comments regarding the speculations. He only answered briefly that "it is unprofessional to comment on a role that he has not yet received", although the 42-year-old actor is proud that so many people want to see him in that role.

After the series "Extant" in which Goran Visnjic starred alongside Halle Berry, and a few smaller roles in movies like "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo" by David Fincher, "Midnight Sun" directed by Roger Spottiswoode, and the short film "95 Decibels", we expect to see him in “You Were Never Here”, “The Tribes of Palos Verdes” and “Timeless”, which are yet to be releases. However, whether the actor will enrich his IMDb page by adding the role of James Bond to his filmography, remains unknown. What is certain is that the current James Bond, British actor Daniel Craig has two more sequels to shoot, bound by a contract, and once that is finished we can again start betting on who will come as his successor.

However, according to online betting sites, Goran Visnjic ranks pretty high, making his way to the top five candidates for the new 007 agent. Among other actors who made this circle as potential Bonds are: Idris Elba, Tom Hardy, Michael Fassbender, Richard Armitage and Benedict Cumberbatch. Some of the actors who were suggested, but are less probable to appear as 007 agents, ranking lower on these betting polls are Hugh Jackman, Orlando Bloom, Sam Riley, Guy Pearce, Eric Bana and George Clooney.

Regardless who gets this legendary role, one thing is for sure, he will have a hard task filling in Daniel’s shoes, as he has really proven himself as an excellent, if not one of the best actors to ever play James Bond. Visnjic doesn’t pay too much attention to these sorts of rumors, and more than once he has said that if something is meant to be, it will be, and the same goes for movie roles.
